Every wedding day has its own personality, and Rita and Max’s wedding brought together timeless elegance, beautiful architecture, and genuine moments across Greenwich, Connecticut, and New York City. From the morning preparations at Hyatt Regency Greenwich to their church ceremony, portraits along Manhattan’s Park Avenue, and an evening celebration at Townhouse in Greenwich, the day offered a wonderful variety of settings and experiences.
As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I always enjoy documenting weddings that combine different locations and atmospheres throughout the day. Rita and Max’s celebration gave us the opportunity to capture classic portraits, candid interactions, and the energy of the city while preserving the personal moments that made their wedding unique. Hybrid photo and video coverage also allowed me to capture parts of their story through motion.
MORNING PREPARATIONS AT HYATT REGENCY GREENWICH
The wedding day began at Hyatt Regency Greenwich, where Rita and Max prepared in their respective suites surrounded by family and members of the wedding party. There was a wonderful sense of anticipation as everyone got ready for the ceremony and the rest of the day’s celebrations.
These early moments are an important part of the wedding story. From the wedding dress and accessories to conversations, laughter, and the final preparations, there are so many little details that help bring the memories of the day back to life.
Once everyone was ready, we gathered in the hotel’s grand atrium for formal group photographs and extended family portraits. The expansive glass roof and open architecture created a bright setting for the photographs and provided an elegant backdrop for Rita and Max with their family and friends.
A CEREMONY AT THE HISTORIC PARISH OF ST. MONICA & ST. ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY
Following the morning preparations, everyone traveled to the historic Roman Catholic Parish of St. Monica, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, and St. Stephen of Hungary for the ceremony. The church’s architecture, high ceilings, stained-glass windows, and intricate interior details created a traditional and meaningful setting for Rita and Max’s wedding.
Church ceremonies often contain some of the most emotional moments of the entire day. The procession down the aisle, the exchange of vows and rings, and the reactions of family members all contribute to the story being documented.
My approach during a ceremony is to work as unobtrusively as possible while capturing these moments as they naturally unfold. The goal is to preserve the atmosphere of the church and the emotions of the couple without distracting from the ceremony itself. After the service, we remained inside the sanctuary to photograph family groups and portraits near the altar.
WEDDING PORTRAITS ALONG MANHATTAN’S PARK AVENUE
After the ceremony, Rita and Max headed into New York City for portraits along Park Avenue. The change of scenery brought a completely different atmosphere to the wedding day, with historic stone buildings, classic Manhattan streets, and the movement of the city providing a distinctive backdrop.
